Voice For Animals (VFA)Voice For Animals (VFA) is grass roots, non-profit and no kill organization organization established in 1987 and headquartered in York, Maine.
We believe that all animals matter and deserve compassion, comfort, happiness, and respect. Our primary goal is to give them a VOICE. We work to eliminate animal suffering and overpopulation, to educate the public, and to promote sensitivity and caring toward all animals. By alleviating some of the overcrowding which shelters across the state experience frequently or from time to time, Voice For Animals can help twice: once by rescuing some animals before they go to a shelter, and again by allowing the shelter animals to live longer (and have a better chance of being adopted) because there are more empty cages available. Our Purpose This organization exists to promote sensitivity and caring for animals through education and other lawful means and to share our knowledge of related issues with others to promote understanding and compassion for animals and humans. Read more about what we believe... What We Do Operating a spay/neuter unit is not longer our goal; that has been replaced by acquiring property so we can run a no-kill shelter. Funding We operate on grants, public donations, and membership dues. Voice For Animals pays NO wages. A few core volunteers cover much of the small administrative costs of caring for the animals, thus ALL donations are used directly for the animals. We are currently conducting a member drive to increase our membership numbers. We need members not only to help financially with the costs of caring for the animals, but also to give the organization strength and spread the word of the work we are doing and the great need. Please won't you lend your voice to this worthy cause? Together we can make a world of difference for those who depend on us; who give so much, and ask so little... Lend your voice.
